Domestic Violence & Breast Cancer Awareness Month
October is a time of awareness and action as we honor both Domestic Violence Prevention Month and Breast Cancer Awareness Month. At YWCA Greater Lafayette, these two causes are central to our mission of eliminating racism, empowering women, and promoting peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all.
Domestic violence impacts individuals and families in every community, and YWCA Greater Lafayette provides a 24-hour crisis line, emergency shelter, and supportive services to help survivors find safety, healing, and hope. This month, we renew our commitment to raising awareness, breaking the silence, and standing together against all forms of abuse.
Breast cancer remains one of the most common cancers among women, but early detection saves lives. YWCA Greater Lafayette is proud to operate one of Indiana’s largest breast and cervical cancer screening program. Through education, screenings, and support services, we ensure that women in our community, regardless of income, have access to potentially life-saving resources.
By highlighting these two awareness campaigns in October, YWCA Greater Lafayette underscores the importance of prevention, education, and compassionate support. Together with our community, we are working not only to raise awareness but to provide real solutions and resources that save lives and strengthen families.
