Join us for an event in support of all those in treatment, in celebration with survivors, and in honor of those whose lives have been cut short by breast cancer. Light Up Riehle Plaza is an opportunity to come together as a community and raise Breast Cancer Awareness and remind all individuals to receive regular screening and diagnostic care. Dancers from YWCA Y-Dance as well as the DMG Star City Dancers will perform.
In order to “shine a light” on breast cancer, the lights spanning the length of the John T. Meyers Pedestrian Bridge, which crosses the Wabash River and connects Riehle Plaza in Downtown Lafayette to Tapawingo Park in West Lafayette, will be lit in pink in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Special Thank you to the International Brotherhood of Electrical workers who help make this transition possible year after year. Visit the Pedestrian Bridge after dark during the month of October to view the lights.
From October 1 – 6, the Tippecanoe County Courthouse dome will also be lit up in pink to signify the beginning of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
YWCA Greater Lafayette’s Women’s Cancer Program believes financial means should never be a barrier to preventative health care and early cancer detection. That is why we work to connect all women in Tippecanoe County and central Indiana with resources and support to ensure that no woman is unable to receive appropriate preventative measures for breast and cervical cancer.
