About the YWCA Women's Cancer Program
The YWCA Women's Cancer Program strives to eliminate inequities in health care experienced by many women by removing barriers to access and promoting effective community-based outreach, education and referrals to appropriate clinical services.
The program provides screenings for breast and cervical cancers at no charge for uninsured and under-insured women. Screenings include mammograms, breast ultrasounds, biopsies, Pap tests, pelvic exams and colposcopies. The program serves women in Tippecanoe County and 22 other Indiana counties: Benton, Boone, Carroll, Cass, Clay, Clinton, Fountain, Greene, Hamilton, Howard, Jasper, Miami, Montgomery, Newton, Parke, Pulaski, Sullivan, Tipton, Vermilion, Vigo, Warren and White.
Program staff can provide educational presentations for groups of any size. A special presentation called "Hats Off to Breast Cancer Myths" is a humorous yet educational look at excuses for not getting mammograms. This hat show presentation is available for women's groups.
We have prosthesis and prosthetic bras that can be professionally fit at no charge to any breast cancer patient, not just those diagnosed through our program.

Komen for the Cure Central Indiana, The Indiana Breast Cancer Awareness Trust, private donations and fundraisers.

The YWCA Greater Lafayette Women's Cancer Program will have a team for the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure Central Indiana on April 12th in Indianapolis. YWCA Greater Lafayette received a grant from Susan G. Komen Central Indiana for $286,000 in 2013. This race helps to provide funding for many women in Tippecanoe and surrounding counties who are uninsured or under-insured and need mammograms or diagnostic services related to breast cancer. Lafayette, Indiana, January 30, 2014 – The Indiana Breast Cancer Awareness Trust has awarded a one year $15,000 grant to YWCA Greater Lafayette for its Women’s Cancer Program. This is the 11th year the agency has received funding from the Trust. The funds provide screening mammograms for uninsured and underinsured women in Tippecanoe, Carroll, Clinton, Boone, Montgomery, Warren, Fountain White, Benton, Newton, Jasper, Pulaski, Cass Miami, Howard, Tipton, Hamilton, Parke, Vermillion, Vigo, Clay, Sullivan and Greene.
The mission of the Indiana Breast Cancer Awareness Trust, Inc. is to increase awareness and improve access to breast cancer screening and diagnosis throughout Indiana. All Indiana residents may purchase an Indiana Breast Cancer Awareness license plate by visiting their local Bureau of Motor Vehicles branch or the BMV website at www.in.gov/bmv. Of the $40 specialty plate fee, $25 is a direct tax-deductible donation to the Indiana Breast Cancer Awareness Trust. The plate can be purchased for use on passenger cars, trucks and recreational vehicles up to 11,000 pounds and motorcycles.
